23 vessels at sea, one Control Tower

A fishing fleet runs on Geodot every day: continuous satellite position, fuel measured in the tank and trips planned ahead, from vessel to plant and from plant to customer.

Anonymized story: we name the industry, never the customer.

Context

An Argentine fishing fleet works far from any office. Each vessel goes out on multi-day trips, and what happens on board, heading, fuel and catch, sets the cost of the whole season.

On land, the operation continues: the plant processes the catch and trucks carry it from port to destination. Sea, plant and road have to speak the same language.

The problem

At sea, what isn't measured is learned late: when the vessel returns to port, or once it has already cost money.

  • A dot on a map is not visibility. You need to know where the vessel is, how much fuel it burns and whether it entered a zone it shouldn't have.
  • Fuel is one of the fleet's largest costs, and an abnormal drop in a tank has to show up the moment it happens.
  • The plant and the trucks plan better when they know when each vessel arrives and with what.

How it was done

The platform was built in layers, from the vessel's signal to the decision on land.

  1. 01

    Connect every vessel

Continuous satellite tracking on all 23 vessels and fuel sensors in the tanks, integrated with the on-board PLC.

  2. 02

    Define zones and alerts

Geofences with alerts: the system flags when a vessel enters or leaves a zone, without waiting for the captain's report.

  3. 03

    Plan each trip

Trip planning with a production forecast, so the plant knows what is coming before it arrives.

  4. 04

    Close the loop on land

Plant management from catch to dispatch, truck tracking from port to destination and preventive maintenance on the same platform.

What's next

A new fleet doesn't start with a pilot from scratch: it starts from a maritime platform that already runs 23 vessels every day. What changes is your vessels, your zones and your rules.

Which of these operations looks like yours?
